Someone’s Been Walking in My Shoes ©H & S Owens
Someone’s been knocking at my door
Someone’s been many times before
Someone’s been sitting in my chair
Someone’s been telling you they care
Someone’s been leading you astray
Someone’s been with you night and day
Someone’s been coming ‘round and leaving little clues
Someone’s been walking in my shoes
Someone’s been in while I’ve been out
Someone’s been here without a doubt
Someone’s been looking in your eyes
Someone’s been telling dirty lies
Someone’s been here while I’ve gone
Someone’s been with you all along
Someone’s been coming ‘round and drinking all my booze
Someone’s been walking in my shoes
Someone’s been sleeping in my bed
Someone’s been filling up your head
Someone’s been turning out the light
Someone’s been holding you all night
Someone’s been driving in my car
Someone’s been playing my guitar
Someone’s been coming ‘round and singing you the blues
Someone’s been walking in my shoes

Fuck That Truck
© H&S Owens
Well, I’m headin’ down the highway outta Tennessee
Them eighteen-wheelers comin’ up on me
Nudgin’ at my tailgate, pushin’ me along
Just to let me know that they’re mean and strong
I just wanna get there, I don’t wanna die
Them eighteen-wheelers make me wanna cry
Fuck that truck, you’re takin’ up the road
Fuck that truck, I hope you lose your load
They’re playin’ leapfrog and I’m a sittin’ duck
All I wanna say is, “Fuck that truck!”
I’m just out of Knoxville, it’s pourin’ down rain
Highway 40 on a single lane
I’m jammed in between ‘em, rammed from behind
I’d love to raise my finger and give ‘em the sign
I just wanna get there, I don’t wanna die
Them eighteen-wheelers make me wanna cry
CHORUS
Well, I gotta get to Bristol by the break of day
But those damn ol’ trucks keep getting’ in my way
I’m sittin’ on the limit, got my foot right to the floor
I look into the mirror and I hear a mighty roar
I wind down my window and I look him in the eye
Them eighteen-wheelers make me wanna cry
CHORUS

Edge of the American Dream
©H&S Owens
We met at university, we had no responsibility
A time when the future is layin’ at your feet
We refused to go to Vietnam, we thumbed our nose at Uncle Sam
And marched with a hundred thousand in the street
Yeah, it all began when we were just eighteen
We were livin’ on the edge, the edge of the American Dream
I played a gig in a college bar, he listened to me strummin’ on my Spanish guitar
Them ol’ gut strings echoed down the hall
So while walkin’ down the street one day, he stepped into a pawn shop sayin’
“Hand me down that six-string off the wall
And he became the hottest picker that I’ve ever seen
And he was livin’ on the edge, the edge of the American Dream
We used to pile all our friends in a camper van, knowin’ that twenty dollars can
Take you all the way down to Mexico
We played guitar and we sang all night, the smoke was good and the sun was bright
We went about as far as we could go
But as long as we could pay for the gasoline
We could live on the edge, the edge of the American Dream
Well he joined a country band out west, he hit the road and he played with the best
I thought that he had finally found it all
Now the years went by, I lost track of him, then he found himself caught out on a limb
And one day he surprised me with a call
He’d been livin’ too fast, he was tryin’ to come clean
And he was hangin’ on the edge of the American Dream…
By the time I made it to his side, the light had gone out in his eyes
And with it went the dream that we all shared
And as the sun rose in the sky, I said a prayer, a last goodbye
“Adios, amigo, ‘til we meet again somewhere.”
You know life ain’t nothin’ like the pictures in a magazine
When you’re livin’on the edge, the edge of the American Dream
When you’re livin’on the edge of the American Dream
When you’re livin’on the edge, the edge of the American Dream
When you’re livin’on the edge, the edge of the American Dream…

One of The Honkytonk Angels
©H&S Owens
Yesterday I lost a friend, today I’m feeling blue
Tomorrow won’t be easy, ‘cause I’ll be missing you
Life won’t ever be the same, but it will still go on
And the honkytonk angels will sing the whole night long
Now you’re one of the honkytonk angels
Leave behind your troubles at the door
Now you’re one of the honkytonk angels
You don’t have to worry anymore…
Everything that matters, all that’s right and true
Slips through your fingers, and there’s nothing that you can do
But I’ve still got your memory after you have gone
And the honkytonk angels will sing the whole night long
CHORUS
I’ll see you when I get there, I’ll be there in the end
We’ll all meet up forever, be together once again
We’ll sit around and shoot the breeze and play another song
And the honkytonk angels will sing the whole night long
CHORUS
